Finnguala - for Songjewel

My second entry for Songjewel's gaia contest... another one where I didn't intend to do a full bg, this time because I was using a different technique here, with some lineart and highly stylized features... but I did it anyway. I ended up leaving a lot less of the lines in, in fact there are only the ones on the skin since I wanted to keep that look. Im happy how it doesnt look too inconsistant, or rather that the inconstistancy was deliberate. Which, it wasnt, I mean planned... things just sort of went this way. The drum she is holding is an irish bodhran. It is held on a cross frame underneath the face of the drum (excuse my poor explaination) and beat with that little handheld beater - her hand is on the lower part of that cross. I tried positioning it in a different manner for her hand to be further up but it didnt look as good.


Anyway, I might update this again, contest deadline is the night of the 12th... still a few days! So sorry for the resubs if/when they come. But for now, here she dances and plays to the heartbeat of the Highlands.
